Lily smiled to herself as she made her way out into the grounds, clutching the strap of her back as it was slung over her shoulder.
The sun was out and it wasn't as blustery as the general September weather they'd been having lately, just enough to ruffle her red hair into an austere dance over her shoulders. Tucking a strand behind her ear and back off of her face she paused to look around the grounds.
Not many people were out and about yet, which suited her perfectly as the bank around the lake was less crowded so she could get some peace and quiet.
Sitting down on the grass, she kicked off her shoes and socks, trailing her feet in the cool shallows of the lake, opening her book to the right page on her knees and becoming lost in a familiar world of adventure that could only be acheived through pages rather than in real life.

Angel's green eyes snapped around the grounds, looking for someone to talk to. She'd been in the same tree now for about an hour and had seen very few people around to talk to. She didn't like that at all.
She looked up at the sky and decided that it was far too hot to just sit there and climbed down from the tree. A swim in the lake couldn't hurt, she thought, walking over to the lake.
When she got there, however, she saw someone. A girl to be exact. Angel walked up to the girl slowly, eager for the company and hoped that the girl wasn't busy.
"Hi," Angel smiled, standing next to her. "I hope I'm not interupting anything, am I?"

Lily looked up from her book and smiled, "Oh no, not interrupting anything. I'm just being boring." She laughed lightly.
Quickly finishing her sentence, she folded down the corner of the page and set her book aside to be polite.
"My name's Lily." She introduced herself.

"I'm Angel," she said. "Reading is far from being boring. You can travel to the most amazing places in the world without having to step foot outside your door. I don't find that boring at all."
Angel looked around a little and noticed the lack of people. "Mind if I sit here?" She asked, smiling slightly. "I'm new and there's no one else I know yet."

"A whole new world in the pages. My dad used to say that," She smiled, glad to have found someone who seemed to have more than a few braincells to rub together.
"Yes, of course you can sit there, I was rather lonely all by myself." She smiled, "You're new? That'd explain why I haven't seen you before, then. What house are you in?"

"I'm in Gryffindor," Angel answered, sitting down next to her. "It is rather quiet today, huh? Is it normally this quiet?"
She looked around once more. "It's awefully big," she commented.

"Oh, I'm a Gryffindor too." She smiled, "It is quiet, actually. It isn't normally so quiet. Potter and his moronic friends have probably caused some sort of distraction, or are showing off somewhere. That usually draws a crowd."
She stretched her arms out in front of her, "It's huge, really. Easy to get lost."

"Would you mind showing me around?" Angel asked timidly. "I really have no idea how to get anywhere and it really is big."
"Potter? Moronic friends?" She asked. "They don't sound too nice."

"I'd love to show you around," Lily smiled warmly. She did like making new friends.
"Potter and Black are just awful. They're arrogant and think the world revolves around them. But Remus is a nice person, when he's not with them. He's capable of intelligent conversation at least. And Pettigrew is just a coward and follows them blindly. They drive me insane. It seems Potter can't go a day without harassing me."

Angel smiled back, pleased that someone was willing to show her and she would avoid getting lost.
"And I asume that Potter and Black aren't their first names?" She asked. "I would like to meet Remus since he sounds nice and the sort of person I'd be friends with. Peter just sounds annoying and Potter and Black sound dreadful!"

"No, it's James and Sirius. They thinks they're God's gift to women." She rolled her eyes, "Nothing could be further from the truth."

"I hate those sort of people," Angel said, sighing. "And I take it they each have their own 'fan club' as they call them? They're probably just confident and good at flying. Women always seem to fall for that type for some reason."

"Yes, they do. It's sickening, it really is." Lily sighed, "And yes, that's precisely it. Confident and reasonably talented. Makes their ego's insufferably huge."

"I feel sorry for the poor girls who like them," Angel sighed. "And let me guess, they pick on people who aren't as popular as them? We had people like that at my old school."

"Yes, they do. Poor Serverus. He used to be a good friend of mine. They pick on him all the time. It's horrible." She shuddered slightly, "Where was your old school?" She asked.

"Some small place in the middle of no where. I've forgotten the name now," Angel shrugged. "Who's Severus?"

|
Post by Lily Evans on Aug 5, 2007 21:08:27 GMT
"Oh, okay." She smiled slightly, "Serverus was my best friend for ages. He's a Slytherin, in with a bad crowd now. We stopped talking when he called me a mudblood in fifth year."

"Why would he call you such a horrible name if you were best friends?" Angel asked, shocked that he would call anyone that at all. "Doesn't sound like such a great friend to me."

"Potter had just been torturing him," She shrugged, "I'm not defending him, but he was frustrated and humiliated at the time."

"Have you tried to talk to him about it?" Angel asked. "That normally helps and tells you why he said those things. I'm sure he didn't mean them."

"We talked about it a little. But it was pretty strained between us anyway. He hates my Gryffindor friends and his Slytherin friends are all dark arts fanatics and I wouldn't be surprised if half of them joined you-know-who."

"Wow, that really sucks," Angel said sadly. "Is there like a great big war between the Gryffindors and the Slytherins then? Since you seem to be the opposites."

"Well, most of us don't really get along." She smiled sheepishly, "It's nothing personal. Just age old rivalry. It goes right back to the founders, I guess."
|
|
|

"The founders?" Angel asked, a little confused since she knew nothing about the school or the teachers. "Who were they?"
|
|
|
Post by Lily Evans on Aug 5, 2007 21:43:54 GMT
"Oh, Godric Gryffindor, Rowena Ravenclaw, Helga Hufflepuff and Salazar Slytherin. They founded the four houses and chose what kind of students they taught. Then Slytherin got in a big row with the others, because he only wanted to let pure bloods into Hogwarts. Eventually he left the other three to run the place because he didn't agree. Now Slytherin's don't seem to get on all that well with the other houses. Especially with Gryffindor's for some reason." She smiled, "And I could go on. I've read Hogwarts; A History far too many times now. You can borrow it if you like. It's all rather interesting."

"Thank you," Angel said gratefully. "I was so caught up in packing and getting ready that I had no time to find out about the school or founders of it."

"It's fascinating. And it seems practically impossible to map the place because it's always moving. Like a living thing almost. Growing and shifting around. It's amazing." She smiled.

"Wow, I feel really lucky to be here," Angel smiled, looking towards the castle. "Have you been here the whole six and a bit years or what?"
|
|
|
Post by Lily Evans on Aug 5, 2007 22:04:10 GMT
"Yep, since I was a tiny little first year." She laughed, "It's got to be so that coming back on the train is like coming home to an old friend. Sad as that is. It's going to be really hard to leave this year."

"Because you won't be coming back," Angel nodded. "That's why I move around schools a lot. You don't get too attatched and upset when you leave. I think this school is going to be a lot different though. This is so big and beautiful. And I already have friends, if you would call us that."
